lap ... top vs lap ... flames

While reflecting on a fun day, completed with a beautiful beach sunset, at cozzy Southern California, a connection between two lap related incidents came to mind.

At the campfire, while the tide was shrinking our beach space over and over, a group of bright young americans where engaging in an intense conversations, and Cuba theme easily arrived with a hollywood flavor, the Che movie.

And the recent arrest of an USAID contractor in Cuba, Dec 5th, 2009 (Washington Post, Dec 13, 2009) for giving away laptops to cuban activists, came to focus.

Now, I was just recalling the December 25th breaking news. Flames of fire were rosing up by the lap of youngster upon a flight just arriving Detroit.

The coincident laps related incidents as apparently plots against governments. One with regular pluripartidary elections. The other with a one party government system. While the cuban government apparently see laptops as a threat. One of the 278 people at Amsterdam-Detroit, Northwest Flight 253 felt a very hot threat while flames started to rose from the lap of a nearby passanger and decided to stop the fire.

It seems clear that the new approach that cubans seeking human rights for Cuba are adopting more and more is digitally related. Take a look at Generacion Y (Yoani's blog) http://www.desdecuba.com/generationy/?p=472 and tell me what you see. An absolutely non-violent approach to struggle to keep hope on renewed Cuba.
